The steering Comittee for the 2011 World Conference on Science and Technology Parks invites abstract submissions for paper presentations at next year's world conference.

All abstracts will be considered. However, we encourage you to submit abstacts which address the conference theme 'Roadmaps for Future Navigation'.

Theme

"Science parks not efficient" - OECD

Over the last couple of years, and recently with the worldwide financial crisis, the support for entrepreneurs and high growth companies have proven to be more and more important in order to secure the welfare systems of tomorrow. However, recent analysis from OECD suggests that the current model most science parks and incubators are using, might not be the most efficient way to achieve this ambitious goal.

2011 Revision of STP role in society

In 2011 Scion DTU and Symbion wish to highlight some of the new ways to secure growth and support the rise of new generations of born global companies by focusing on the role of STPs in solving- or at least assisting in doing so - the major challenges facing our communities. In other words creating:

'Roadmaps for Future Navigation'

These ways will aim at increasing the specialization of STPs and incubators to give the full social economic impact to society. Attention will be focused on the role to be played by STPs in responding to the global challenges and the further development of sustainable growth and prosperity.

STP Basic areas

IASP 2011 has identified 3 basic areas that affect the very foundation of STPs. These will guide our way towards creating 'Roadmaps for Future Navigation'. They are:

Technology and Innovation

In these 3 basic areas, we find most of the deciding factors to the success or failure of STPs and their ability to adapt to market needs. And it is these 3 basic areas of the STP universe that forms the impetus of the IASP 2011 Conference in Copenhagen.

Conference process

The program for the two and a half day conference will be divided into an opening ceremony, several plenary sessions and parallel sessions on specific topics. Each session is distinct and unique in content and emphasis, and various forms of sessions will be used such as plenary, workshops, debate forums, future walls etc.

Call for Papers

The Steering Committee for the IASP 2011 World Conference on Science and Technology Parks invites Abstract submissions for paper presentations at next year's world conference.

The theme 'Roadmaps for Future Navigation' will be focusing on the role to be played by STPs in responding to the global challenges and the further development of sustainable growth and prosperity.

All abstracts will be considered. However, we encourage you to submit abstracts which address the conference theme ‘Roadmaps for Future Navigation' and the key discussion issues as listed below:

■ Communication strategies and media relations
■ Sustainability in STPs
■ How STPs respond to global challenges
■ Attracting and securing capital funds

Abstract review and notification

The selection of abstracts will be made on their significance, relationship to the Conference themes and interest to a wide range of delegates.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the Steering Committee and authors will be notified of their acceptance on November 18 2010. The committee reserves the right to reject any abstract considered not to meet the conference criteria.

Due to space restrictions of the conference program, it may not be possible for all abstracts meeting the criteria to be included in the program. The Steering Committee retains the right to decide the type of presentation that will be offered.

Important points to note

Potential presenters should note all costs to attend the conference must be met from their own resources. However, speakers will be offered free entrance to the conference.

At least one author of the accepted abstract is expected to attend and present their paper at the conference

All abstracts accepted may be published in the conference proceedings.

Badges
Each participants will receive a name badge upon registration. For security reasons all participants are requested to wear their badge during all the conference activities and social events. (The cost for replacing a badge is DKK 500).

The official currency is Danish Kroner (DKK). Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops.

Climate

The weather at this time of the year is usually mild with temperatures approximately 15 degrees celsius; showers may occur.

Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen is the main hub for all air travel in the region of Northern Europe and serves all major airlines of the world. For the 3rd consecutive year, it has been voted the best airport in the world.

Electricity

Electrical current in Denmark is 220 V/50 Hz. Round, European-style two-pin plugs are used. Appliances designed to operate on 110/120 Volts need a voltage converter and a plug adapter.

Language

The official language is Danish, though most of the city’s inhabitants speak fluently and understand English.

Meals

Lunch and coffee are included in the registration fee. Welcoming reception, informal dinner and gala dinner are also included.

Price level

Copenhagen has the reputation of being a costly destination, but is actually comparable to other Northern European capitals like London or Amsterdam. For example, in Copenhagen you can have a coffee for around DKK 20 (USD 3.20/EUR 2.70)

Security in Copenhagen

With security being such an important factor in the organisation of any major event, the compactness of the city have made this task simple. Copenhagen is one of the safest destination cities in the world.

Time Zone

GMT + 1 hour. Daylight Saving Time is used during the summer.

Visa Rules

For a tourist stay of up to three months, travellers require a valid passport. In addition to that, an entry or transit visa is required by some nationalities. Consult the Danish Embassy or consulate in your home country for further information. www.um.dk

Pre- and Post Tours

Pre Tour - Sweden Tour

We follow the coastline from Copenhagen to Elsinore. Crossing the narrow strait between Elsinore and Helsingborg, you will get a great opportunity for a fantastic view of Hamlet's Castle - Kronborg - from the sea. In Sweden, we drive through the city of Helsingborg, before continuing to Lund. Lund is a university city from the middle ages. The city was the religious, cultural and commercial centre of Scandinavia until the Reformation. We visit the Cathedral which has a magnificent 14th century astronomical clock and we end up at the famous University. After lunch we continue to Malmø, which is the biggest city in Scania and the 3rd largest in Sweden. On our way back to Denmark we have to cross the Sound once again, but this time we do so on the magnificent bridge from Malmø to Copenhagen.

Post Tour - Castle tour of North Sealand

On this Castle Tour of North Sealand we visit the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle. Our visit here includes the National History Museum, the Chapel of Orders and the Knights' Hall. The tour continues past the Royal Family´s summer residence - Fredensborg Palace, in the middle of a lovely park. Subsequently we will visit the interesting city Elsinore and see the impressive Kronborg Castle. This very castle was the setting of Shakespeare´s play "Hamlet". Lunch en route - is included in the tour price. Returning to Copenhagen, the coach will drive through fashionable resorts and exclusive residential areas taking the scenic route along the coast of Denmark. If you look across the water, in the distance you will see the coast of Sweden.

Post Tour - Grand Tour of Copenhagen

On the Grand Tour of Copenhagen, we pass by the Tivoli Gardens and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. We drive through the colourful canal district, past the National Museum, and past Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament. We continue to The Old Stock Exchange and across Kongens Nytorv, where you see the Royal Theatre, world famous for its Royal Ballet. The tour continues past the colourful harbour district of Nyhavn to Amalienborg Palace - winter residence of the Royal Family. Here we have the opportunity of seeing the changing of the Danish Royal Guard. This is followed by a visit to the Gefion Fountain and The Little Mermaid, inspired by H. C. Andersen's fairytale. During the tour we pay a visit to one of the churches in Copenhagen as well as passing by Rosenborg Castle, where the Crown Jewels are protected by the Royal Guard. The Grand Tour is really a good introduction to the city of Copenhagen.

Danish Design and Fashion Tour - Monday June 20th
	We begin the tour by visiting the Danish crown jewels in the vaulted cellars of the beautiful Rosenborg Castle. We move up in time to visit the famous Danish design objects at the museum of Art & Design. We will also find the hidden and appealing special fashion and design shops in the narrow streets of old Copenhagen. This will give you an opportunity to bring home items for yourself or for your best friends. Wind down your tour on the pedestrian shopping street of Strøget at the famous Royal Copenhagen porcelain House. Grand Tour of Copenhagen - Monday June 20th

The Brewery Tour - Tuesday June 21st
	Visit the original Carlsberg Brewery, and explore the fascinating history of Carlsberg and its world famous beer. The trip around the Centre also brings you through the stables where you can experience the big Jutland dray horses. Taste a glass of Carlsberg beer or soft drink at the bar. Continue by coach to see the exterior of where it all started for Carlsberg in Brolæggerstræde, and complete the tour by beer tasting and a light beer menu lunch at one of the local brewery restaurants in Copenhagen. Geography

A commercial exhibition will be an important part of the IASP 2011 World Conference. As exhibitor, you have a unique opportunity to meet the CEO's and other professionals from the worlds most important science and technology parks - all gathered in one place.

Located in the middle of the conference

The exhibition is located in areas directly connected to the various meeting rooms and the exhibition will therefore be a direct part of the conference.
Coffee and refreshments for the participants will also be served in the exhibition area during the intervals between the sessions.

Changes or cancellation of ordered services

In case an order is cancelled more than 21 days prior to opening of the event, only expenses occurred will be invoiced. In case an order is cancelled less than 21 days prior to opening, the organizing commitee reserves the right to invoice the full amount of the order related to the catalogue price or the price offered.
